[ Shortly after the usual deposit of money from the gods into everybody's accounts, Sasuke receives a separate one--only about ten bucks worth of dora, but there it is. The sender is anonymous. ]

[ Sasuke is very confused by this deposit because he doesn't think he's done anything to warrant the excess. It can't be he got a raise in his monthly allotment because he never gets raises.

That's his life. Always getting underpaid, so this has to be some mistake. ]

[ A familiar small crow swoops down towards Sasuke. Tennouji Matsuemon isn't just paying a friendly visit to Mr. Tori however, he's carrying a small packet with him. 'Package for Sarutobi! Package for Sarutobi!!'

The package contains four daifuku and a handwritten letter. ]

Dear Sasuke-san,

I recently found out that my repli-cator can produce some wagashi! It can only make daifuku right now, so I would like to give some to you. They're very sweet and it doesn't seem like it has any problems making them like other ingredients. It goes well with some tea, I think the machines are able to make some tea.

I hope you're doing well, if you're ever feeling lonely, please visit me, Zenitsu and Mitsuri-san! We'd love to have you eat with us.

[ Tennouji Matsuemon's appearance surprises Sasuke, but later he wonders why. Mr. Tori can deliver items to others, and crows are naturally smart. Maybe it's more that Sasuke got something... and an invitation.

Sasuke pulls out a sweet with Mr. Tori on his shoulder. How long has it been since he has eaten daifuku? He takes a small bite out of one. Tanjiro is right. It's very sweet... and the taste makes him homesick....

He leaves it half eaten. The rest goes over to Mr. Tori who'll peck at them over the course of the day. Sasuke will hole himself up in his room. Despite how down he feels, Sasuke still carefully folds the note and puts it somewhere safe. ]

After the June/Dianir event

Sasuke-san,

Where are you right now? I need you to punch me real hard because I broke our promise.

[ No, Sasuke did not jump into the air upon hearing his phone go off. No, he didn't set it to silent after because wtf?! Ninja?! Stealth?! Please?!

When he reads the message, he frowns. God damn it... why didn't he listen to him? ]

I'm doing repairs at the baths. I'll met you some place nicer.

[ Gods, Zenitsu knows Sasuke is going to be pissed. But he's also mainly the one who had originally persuaded him to talk to Tanjiro, so he needed to let him know what happened. ]

Oh you're busy sorry about that I'll catch you later then don't worry about it

[ Despite having keen ears, Zenitsu rarely uses it to listen properly sorry. ]

Okay. I can head over to the baths area, I prefer if it's somewhere Tanjiro can't pick our scents up.

[ Not that Zenitsu has been spending time at home that much anyways... It's just way too awkward to see his friend's face at the moment. ]

[ ... Wait, there are more than just Brigid who is super reliant on the scents? ]

There's a ruined building next to the baths.
It's been cleaned out and will give us more privacy than here.

[ And with Zenitsu's speed via his legs, it doesn't take that long for him to arrive at the location. He made sure to actually cover his tracks by making detours to throw off the scent, as well as covering it with another smell.

To be honest, even with all of this Tanjiro probably could easily track them down but considering they haven't spoken to each other, he figures doing all this will give the other an enough sign that Zenitsu doesn't want to be followed.

He peers into the building, looking around for any sign of the ninja. ]

Sasuke-san? I'm here. [ Even with his keen ears, sometimes it was hard to pick up Sasuke's quiet sounds... ]

[ Sasuke is sitting in his weird one-legged stance next to some crates. This building apparently is being used for storage. ]

I'm over here.

[ He's trying to keep his voice even, but even so, there is a hint of disappointed mom-friend in it. ]

[zapdope]

[ That disappointed sound is super heavy and painful for Zenitsu's ears as he slowly enters the building, his entire body language shouting fear and anxiety as he nervously walks over to where Sasuke is.

Yeah, he said he needed to be punched but actually going through the pain was still scary.

He takes a moment to get a breath in, and then basically shouts: ]

I couldn't even properly let Tanjiro know, and now I told him at the worst timing possible!! I'm pretty sure he hates me now!!! Just punch me real hard, please!!!!

[ Sasuke stands, walks over to Zenitsu-- ]

[ --and promptly bonks him atop his head.

It's a far cry from being punched hard. The motivational punching and yelling thing is more Lord Shingen and his master's style. Sasuke could have slapped Zenitsu, but he doesn't either. (He's not proud of having raised a hand like that to his master, even if he needed a wake-up slap.) ]

Punching you isn't going to fix anything. Take a seat. Tell me what happened.

[ And... Sasuke thinks he has an idea on what this or who this involves. ]

Yeah, I'll head over there. I'll find a quiet spot for us.

[ And Sasuke will be in some tucked away corner where they can talk without being interrupted. Unless the General Lohpeh makes a break for it again. ]

[ Finding Sasuke had been easy enough, by the time the ninja had been within his range, Tanjiro just follows after the distinctive forest smell that makes up Sasuke.

When they meet, Tanjiro isn't smiling at all. There's discomfort in his frown that shows just how guilty he's been feeling these past few days. ]

Thank you for letting me meet you today, Sasuke-san.

[ One look is all it takes to confirm Sasuke's guess. This is about the fight he has with Zenitsu. Sasuke leans against some wall or fake tree, trying to keep casual to let Tanjiro lead the conversation. ]

I've got nothing but time these days. What's going on?

I did something horrible, I've said things to Zenitsu that I shouldn't have.

[ He goes straight to the point. It's been on his mind for days. He sits on the ground, knees hitting the floor, not minding the potential dirt. ]

I don't think Zenitsu had the right to say what he did, but I was also too angry at him.

[ Zenitsu had said that Tanjiro was acting scary, so they had a fight as well.... ]

That doesn't sound like you. What happened?

I don't know, something strange happened in the last few months, I felt...

[ He looks at his hands, they're gripping on his knees so he tries to loosen them up. ]

I felt uneasy that month. In my time, demons -actual demons that eat people- roam around the country. When I was younger, my family was killed by a demon when I left the house. My mother and four of my younger siblings.

[ His words are uncharacteristically full of venom when he brings up the demon. Considering he and Sasuke had briefly crossed paths with each other as children, Sasuke might see where's coming from with forcibly reliving the past again, and for Tanjiro, it's to experience the last moments of innocence before it was robbed from him. ]

When we were all back to our normal ages, I couldn't stop thinking about that day before they were all slaughtered. I could never get my family back, I know that, but I'll still find the demon and slay him. Sasuke-san, I never stop thinking about my family, but a few days ago, I just couldn't stop getting people to come to my home. I know I missed them, and I wanted to make the house as crowded as my real home was.

[ But here's the part that he's still trying to figure out as his brows start to furrow. ]

There's just one thing I don't understand, I really want Zenitsu to be with me. I don't see him as family, but I keep thinking he'd make it like home. That he's home than the house itself.

[ Sasuke has to look away and hope he can keep his expression neutral. That kind of darkness--because that is what Sasuke feels--shouldn't touch people like Tanjiro. It shows the strength of character Tanjiro has because he still manages to stay as bright as he is. Although, Sasuke wonders why he had hoped for something different when they're from a world which sounds as dangerous as his own. He learned that from Zenitsu. ]

I understand what you mean.

[ About which part or parts, he doesn't clarify. Sasuke feels like he can't clarify or put it into words. To do so would mean admitting something about himself he's desperately trying to acknowledge. To do that would mean he's human. He's not. ]

... So, are you trying to figure out how to apologize? Or something else?
